RCMP and Ground Search and Rescue locate missing man

April 20, 2013, Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) . . . RCMP and the Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) teams from Eastern Shore, Middle Musquodoboit and Sheet Harbour, as well as volunteer fire fighters from Upper Musquodoboit have found the missing 55-year-old Timberlea man.

He was found at 0220 am, approximately 600 meters from his last known location, at Kent Lake.

He was not injured, describing his condition as “very cold and very hungry “. He was examined by EHS at the scene.

At 8:14 p.m. this evening, the RCMP received a report of a missing man. The investigation revealed that the victim was last seen at 1:30 p.m. this afternoon by a family member fishing on the shore of Kent Lake in Pleasant Valley.

Family members spoke to  victim by cell at 3:15 pm.   He had not been seen or heard from since.  It rained over night in the Kent Lake area with very dense fog conditions.

The RCMP would like to acknowledge the great work done by the three ground search and rescue teams and the volunteer firefighters who give up a lot of their family time to bring these searches to an expedient and successful conclusion.
