RCMP arrest 75-year-old erratic driver with contraband alcohol and tobacco

Colchester District RCMP seized a quantity of contraband alcohol, tobacco and cash following a complaint about an erratic driver in Masstown.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on February 18, RCMP responded to a call about an erratic driver travelling in a minivan on Hwy 104. Shortly after, police located and searched the vehicle in Lower Truro. As a result, a number of items were seized, including: 13 bottles of illegal alcohol, 21 cases of unstamped tobacco, duty paid tobacco exceeding the allowed limit and approximately $2,000 in cash. The driver of the vehicle, a 75-year-old woman, was arrested.

The woman is facing charges of Possession of Unstamped Tobacco, Selling of Unstamped Tobacco Products and charges under the Revenue Act. This is her second offence. She is scheduled to appear in Truro Provincial Court on May 9, 2018.
