RCMP arrest man for attempted murder after stand-off, Cape North, N.S.

Victoria County RCMP have arrested a 57-year-old man who was barricaded on South Ridge Rd in Cape North. Shortly before 4 p.m. yesterday, Victoria County RCMP responded to a report of shots fired at two individuals.

Victoria County RCMP have arrested a 57-year-old man who was barricaded on South Ridge Rd in Cape North.

Shortly before 4 p.m. yesterday, Victoria County RCMP responded to a report of shots fired at two individuals.

Preliminary investigation determined that two shots had been fired by a 57-year-old man from the area, no one was injured. The two men left the area and called RCMP.

The area which is an isolated rural area was secured by RCMP. The Emergency Response Team (ERT) and a crisis negotiator were summoned to the scene. RCMP were able to convince the man to surrender peacefully and he was arrested shortly after. The Southwest Nova Major Crimes unit is assisting with the investigation. Charges have not been laid at this time.
