RCMP arrest man in possession of firearm, Yarmouth, N.S.

Yarmouth town RCMP arrested a man who was in possession of a loaded .22 rifle in a shopping area near Charles Crosby Drive.

At approximately 12:00 noon today, RCMP responded to a report of a man with a rifle near the back of the Atlantic Superstore.

Several RCMP members made an immediate patrol to the area and located the man who appeared to be intoxicated. The 49-year-old Yarmouth man was arrested and taken into custody without incident. A short time later, RCMP received a report of a break, enter and theft into a residence where a .22 calibre rifle was allegedly stolen. These two incidents are believed to be related.

The man is facing several charges and will remain in custody until his court appearance at the Yarmouth Provincial Court on Monday morning. The investigation is continuing.
