RCMP arrest New Brunswick man, facing multiple charges, Halifax, N.S.

Police arrest a New Brunswick man in relation to numerous property-related crimes committed throughout the Halifax region and Chester.

On Wednesday, May 13th at approximately 4:30 p.m., officers with the Halifax District Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) and Halifax Regional Police arrested a 42-year-old man on Windmill Rd.

, for multiple property-related crimes that took place between April 10th and May 13th, 2015, involving jewellery stores, pawn and coin shops located in Dartmouth and Chester.

After the arrest, the suspect was transferred by police vehicle to Halifax Regional Police cells. Upon arrival, he escaped from the police vehicle and traveled a short distance by foot. The police officer immediately called for back up and then pursued the suspect on foot. The suspect was quickly apprehended and placed back into police custody.

Marc Joseph Pellerin of Moncton, New Brunswick was held in police custody overnight and is appearing in Dartmouth Provincial Court today.

Pellerin is now facing 29 charges:

Possession of Stolen Property x 6
Possession of Stolen Property Over $5,000 x 3
Careless Use of a Firearm
Possession of a Weapon Obtained by Commission of an Offence
Resist Arrest x 2
Escape Lawful Custody
Breach of Undertaking x 7
Trafficking in Property Obtained by Crime x 5
Break and Enter and Commit Theft
Theft over $5,000 X 2

The investigation is ongoing and further charges are anticipated.
