RCMP arrest two youth for mischief, Port Hawkesbury, N.S.

Two Port Hawkesbury youth have been arrested for mischief over $5000. On the evening of April 5th, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Port Hawkesbury RCMP responded to five reports of property damage over a span of 30 minutes between the Granville and Queen Street area.

On the evening of April 5th, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Port Hawkesbury RCMP responded to five reports of property damage over a span of 30 minutes between the Granville and Queen Street area.

Windows were smashed in two vehicles, one residence, the Post Office, and a local business. An extendable baton was used to break the glass at each of these properties. Police were able to locate the two suspects when one fled on foot continuing to cause damage. He was arrested shortly after. Further reports of damage were reported to RCMP yesterday and these appear to be random, alcohol may have been involved.

A 17-year-old and a 16-year-old youth, both from Port Hawkesbury, were released on conditions and are facing charges of Mischief Over $5000, Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace and Breach of Undertaking. They will appear at the Port Hawkesbury Provincial Youth Court on May 26, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. The investigation is continuing.
