RCMP bust turns up guns, ammo, and illegal cigarettes

RCMP release:

Meteghan RCMP Detachment has charged a man with offences related to firearms and unstamped tobacco after executing a search warrant at a residence in Little Brook.

On March 13, Meteghan RCMP Detachment, with assistance from the Southwest Nova RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit and Yarmouth Town RCMP General Investigation Section, searched a home on Little Brook Rd. as part of an ongoing investigation. Officers seized four rifles, three of which were unsafely stored, ammunition, and cartons of unstamped cigarettes. The residence was unoccupied at the time of the search.

John Dereme Comeau, 53, of Little Brook, was later arrested and charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose (three counts), Contravention of Storage Regulations (three counts), and Selling of Tobacco Products under the Criminal Code. He has also been charged with offences under the Excise Act and Revenue Act.

Comeau was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in Digby Provincial Court on May 25.
