RCMP catch two DUIs within 10 minutes

Two impaired drivers were arrested in Pictou County just after midnight, in different areas of the county and within 10 minutes of each other. One was involved in a collision.

On June 4 at 12:15 a.m., Pictou District RCMP responded to a call of a vehicle travelling West in the East bound lane of Hwy. 104 in Sutherlands River. Police arrived on scene and found the vehicle had left the road and the driver was on foot. He was not injured. The 29-year-old male driver from Windsor was arrested and taken to the detachment for a breath test. He refused the test and was held in custody overnight. He is facing charges of Impaired Operation of a Conveyance, and Refusal of the Breath Demand. He is scheduled to appear in Pictou Provincial Court on September 8. 

On June 4 at approx 12:23 a.m., Pictou District RCMP responded to a call of an Impaired Driver in Pictou Landing. Upon attending the area police found the suspect vehicle. A 23-year-old man from Pictou Landing was arrested after struggling with police, and was taken to the detachment for breath for a breath test. He refused the test and is facing charges of Impaired Operation of a Conveyance, Refusal of the Breath Demand, Resisting Arrest, and a number of provincial traffic offences. He is scheduled to appear in Pictou Provincial Court on September 8.
