From RCMP:
January 19th, 2011, Halifax, Nova Scotia…RCMP Metro Traffic Services charged a 23 year-old man with Stunting and seized his vehicle last evening after the driver was observed traveling at nearly twice the posted speed limit. The vehicle, which was stopped on the Bedford By-Pass at approximately 8 p.m., was traveling 176 km/h in a maximum 90 km/h speed zone.
The vehicle has been impounded and will be held for a minimum of seven days. The driver has been immediately suspended from driving for a minimum period of one week. Upon conviction, the driver also faces a fine of more than $2400 and an automatic six points will be assigned to his drivers's record.
Stunting can be defined as traveling more then 50km/h over the posted speed limit. The RCMP take these matters seriously and deem them to be one of the most dangerous forms of aggressive driving. The RCMP will continue to target this form of driving to prevent serious injury and fatal collisions and to help keep Nova Scotia's roadway safe.
