RCMP charge man for outdoor marihuana production, Cape Sable Island, N.S.

RCMP have charged a man after police dismantled a marihuana grow operation on Cape Sable Island.

Yesterday evening, 8:00 p.m., the RCMP Shelburne County Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) executed a search warrant at a residence located on Stoney Island Road.

Officers from the RCMP Barrington Detachment assisted the Street Crime Unit in locating and dismantling an outdoor marihuana grow operation found on the property. Thirty-six marihuana plants were seized. Police also found two unsecured rifles, a handgun and ammunition.

A 49-year-old male, from Cape Sable Island, was arrested near the residence and later released. He is scheduled to appear in Barrington Provincial Court on October 24th. He faces a charge under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act for Production of Marihuana and a Criminal Code charge for Unsafe Storage of Firearms.
