Barrington and Yarmouth RCMP Detachments have charged a Barrington Municipality man in connection with a police investigation into alleged threats made towards a Barrington Municipal High School and the school’s students.

On Saturday evening October 13th, Yarmouth RCMP arrested a 44-year-old man shortly after RCMP became aware of the threats. The man, who was arrested without incident, is facing four counts of Uttering Threats to Barrington Municipal High School and the school’s students. He has been remanded into custody and will be appearing in Yarmouth Provincial Court on Tuesday.
‘As soon as the RCMP received information about a possible threat uttered against school students, immediate action was taken to thoroughly investigate the alleged threat. This included the search of a residence to collect potential evidence.’ says Sgt. MJ DeLuco of Barrington Detachment.

Today, RCMP Barrington and Barrington Municipal High School staff searched the high school and nothing suspicious was found. RCMP are confident that the school is secure and that the students can safely return to classes on Tuesday.

There will be a police presence in the school throughout the day on Tuesday to reassure the students and their parents that their school is safe. The investigation is continuing.
