RCMP charge six motorists with Impaired Driving over the weekend

Monday, September 13, 2010 Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM), N.S…. Members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Halifax District have charged six motorists over the weekend with impaired driving.  In one incident, the driver was involved in a motor vehicle crash.

 
On Friday, September 10, 2010 at 10:45 PM, RCMP responded to a motor vehicle crash on Highway 103 near Exit 2. The vehicle collided with a cement barrier separating the inbound and outbound lanes.  The driver, a 42 year-old female, was transported to Lower Sackville Detachment where she blew over the legal limit.  She is facing charges of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operation of a Motor Vehicle over 80 mgs.  She will appear in Provincial Court in Dartmouth on October 27th, 2010.
 
On Saturday, September 11, 2010 just before 11:00 AM, RCMP stopped a vehicle on Sackville Dr., after receiving an anonymous report of an impaired driver.  As a result, a 53-year old woman is facing charges of Failing to Provide Breath Sample on Demand.  She will appear in Provincial Court in Dartmouth on October 27th, 2010.
 
On that same day, at 2:35 PM, RCMP members stopped a vehicle on Highway 7 in Westphal after receiving a call from a concerned citizen.  The driver, a 34 year-old male, is facing charges of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operation of a Motor Vehicle over 80 mgs.  He will appear in Provincial Court in Dartmouth at a later date.
 
At 7:30 PM that night, RCMP received a call about a vehicle with a flat tire on Stratford Drive in Cole Harbour.  When RCMP arrived, the members noticed the driver exhibiting signs of intoxication.  A 31 year-old male was transported to Cole Harbour Detachment where he gave readings of twice the legal limit.  He was charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operation of a Motor Vehicle over 80 mgs.  He will appear in Provincial Court in Dartmouth on October 20th.
 
Later that night, At 10:20 PM, RCMP members stopped a vehicle at a check point on Lucasville Rd near Lower Sackville.  The driver was showing signs of intoxication.  As a result, a 44 year-old male has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operation of a Motor Vehicle over 80 mgs.  He will appear in Provincial Court in Dartmouth on November 4, 2010.
 
On Sunday, September 12, 2010 at 3:21 AM, while patrolling Sackville Drive in Lower Sackville, an  RCMP member noticed a vehicle driving without its lights on.  The vehicle was stopped and the driver was found to be Impaired.  A 20 year-old female will appear in Provincial Court in Halifax to charges of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operation of a Motor Vehicle over 80 mgs.
