RCMP charges man after incident involving threats and a firearm, Upper Nappan, N.S.

Cumberland County RCMP arrested an 18-year-old man and a 15-year-old youth in relation to an incident that occurred yesterday afternoon on Nappan Rd. At approximately 1:40 p.m., RCMP responded to a 911 call of threats being uttered by a man with a firearm.

At approximately 1:40 p.m., RCMP responded to a 911 call of threats being uttered by a man with a firearm.

Upon arrival to the area, officers determined that the accused had threatened a 44-year-old man with a firearm. A portion of Nappan Rd. was cordoned off for approximately 90 minutes and local residents were evacuated as a precaution.

The accused, as well as a 15-year-old youth, surrendered peacefully without incident. The 18-year-old man was remanded into custody, while the 15-year-old youth was later released. The accused will appear in Amherst Provincial Court today on charges of Assault, Uttering Threats, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and Mischief. The investigation is continuing.
