RCMP charges Valley man for child pornography offences

The RCMP’s Provincial Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit has charged a Valley man with Possession of Child Pornography and Accessing Child Pornography.

On June 29, the RCMP’s ICE Unit, working with information provided by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) in the United States, searched a home in Valley. ICE investigators were assisted by the RCMP’s Technological Crime Unit and Colchester District RCMP.

Child Pornography was discovered as a result of the search, and 27-year-old Troy Jamie Walker was arrested without incident. He is being charged with Possession of Child Pornography and Accessing Child Pornography. He was released from custody on strict conditions and will appear in Truro Provincial Court on October 12, 2016.

In Nova Scotia it is mandatory for citizens to report suspected child pornography. This means that anyone who encounters child pornography material or recordings must report it to the police. Failing to report suspicious activity and materials could result in penalties similar to failure to report child abuse set out in the Child and Family Services Act. The RCMP encourages citizens to be a voice for children who are victims of sexual exploitation by reporting any suspected offences to your local police or by using Canada’s National tipline for reporting online sexual exploitation of children atwww.cybertip.ca.
