RCMP deploy UAS to locate missing hikers, Halifax Regional Municipality, N.S.

RCMP Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) helps locate missing family lost in the woods. Yesterday afternoon, two adult hikers along with their 17-month-old child, entered the woods at 4:30 p.m.

Yesterday afternoon, two adult hikers along with their 17-month-old child, entered the woods at 4:30 p.m.

off the Highway 107 extension and became disoriented at approximately 8:30 p.m. and called police.

The UAS was used to determine the location of the missing hikers in a heavily wooded area, Northeast of Topsail Lake.

With the assistance of Halifax Regional Police K9 service dog, officers were able to locate the hikers and walk them out safely to waiting police vehicles on Sheiling Lane in Dartmouth at 2 a.m. this morning.
