RCMP have one man in custody after violent assaults, North Kentville, N.S.

Kings District RCMP have a 50-year-old man in custody after two people were assaulted with a weapon. Last evening at approximately 9:45 p.m., RCMP and Emergency Health Services (EHS) responded to a request for assistance at a residence on Exhibition Street in North Kentville.

Last evening at approximately 9:45 p.m., RCMP and Emergency Health Services (EHS) responded to a request for assistance at a residence on Exhibition Street in North Kentville.

RCMP, who were nearby at a non-related call, attended the scene within minutes. Preliminary investigation determined that a man from Kentville had assaulted a 41-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man in the residence belonging to the female victim. The suspect was arrested at the scene without incident.

The victims were transported to the Valley Regional Hospital via EHS for medical treatment. The woman, who suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries, was later transported to the QEII Hospital. The man suffered moderate injuries and was later released from hospital. Charges are pending against the suspect and the investigation is continuing.
