Update 10:02 p.m.: RCMP officers have taken the man into custody safely. The power was temporarily turned off to work towards a peaceful resolution. It will be turned back on shortly.

Update 9:38 p.m.: An RCMP negotiator is attempting to make contact with the barricaded man. Hwy 7 continues to be closed, to give officers more room to work toward a peaceful resolution. Officers will begin evacuations of neighbouring homes if needed.

RCMP in Lake Echo on Hwy 7 responding to a situation involving a man barricaded inside a home.
At this time, there is no immediate threat to anyone outside the home. Hwy 7 is closed between Echo Forest Dr and Beech Hill Dr. Avoid the area.
