RCMP are on scene of a fatal motor vehicle collision in Lower Northfield.

Shortly after 8:00 a.m., RCMP responded to a two car collision on Northfield Road. A car travelling northbound collided with a SUV going southbound.

As a result of the collision, the male driver of the car died due to his injuries. The female driver of the SUV was transported to the QEII in Halifax by EHs Lifeflight. She sustained serious injuries.

Northfield Road is closed between Silvers and Mossman Roads until further notice. A RCMP traffic analyst has been called in to assist investigators. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
