RCMP investigate fatal collision on Hwy 103

Halifax District RCMP is investigating a fatal two vehicle collision.

Prior to 3 p.m. yesterday, RCMP, EHS and Halifax Regional Fire responded to a collision on Highway 103 in Upper Tantallon, between Exits 5 and 5A. The collision claimed the life of a 64-year-old man from Lunenburg County, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Initial investigation determined that his vehicle, a 2006 Saturn Ion, was struck from behind by a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. Both vehicles were travelling west bound at the time of the collision. The driver of the Cavalier, a 17-year-old male from Lunenburg County, was treated at the scene by EHS for minor injuries.
