RCMP investigate fatal single-vehicle crash

RCMP release:

Annapolis District RCMP is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Hwy. 8 in Maitland Bridge.

On June 23, at approximately 12:01 a.m., Annapolis District RCMP, fire and EHS, responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on Hwy. 8. Upon arrival at the scene, RCMP officers learned that a Green Pontiac Pursuit was travelling on the highway when it left the roadway, hit a power pole and came to rest on its side in the ditch.

The driver and sole occupant of the Pontiac, a 40-year-old Italy Cross man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A collision reconstructionist attended the scene. The investigation remains ongoing and is being assisted by the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service.

Hwy. 8 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
