RCMP investigate fatal tractor trailer crash, Alton, N.S.

Colchester County RCMP is investigating a fatal crash that occurred earlier this morning on Highway 102.

At approximately 3:10 a.m., RCMP, Brookfield Fire and EHS responded to a report of a tractor trailer that had gone off the road near Alton.

Preliminary investigation determined the lone driver of the vehicle was travelling southbound when he lost control. The truck, carrying a load of wood, landed upright in the right hand ditch. RCMP believe the driver may have experienced a medical issue just prior to veering off the roadway.

Gary Douglas Morrell, 60, of Brookfield, was taken to hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing with the assistance of an RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst.
