Police are currently investigating a shooting that occurred in North Preston early this morning.
At approximately 5 a.m. this morning, Halifax District RCMP responded to a report of gun shots on Cain St. in North Preston. A preliminary investigation has determined that shots were fired and a residence and vehicle on Cain St. were struck as a result. No one was injured in the shooting, and police do not believe that this was a random act.
The investigation is still in its early stages, and is being led by the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division, with assistance from the RCMP Forensic Identification Section.
Investigators are asking anyone with information on this shooting to call Halifax District RCMP at 902-244-7208 or Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or by texting TIP202 + your message to `CRIMES`(274637) or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca. Calls to Crime Stoppers are not taped or traced and if police make an arrest and lay charges based on a tip, callers qualify for a cash award.
