RCMP investigate stabbing, Halifax, N.S.

East Hants District RCMP are investigating a stabbing incident that occurred earlier this morning.

Shortly before 8 a.m., RCMP responded to a report of a possible stabbing on Highway 1 in Mount Uniacke.

Preliminary investigation determined that two males forcibly entered the residence of a 53-year-old Mount Uniacke man who was alone. Once inside, an altercation occurred and the 53-year-old man was stabbed. He has since been taken to hospital by EHS with undetermined injuries.

The two assailants are described as being in their early 20’s, wearing toques along with light brown jackets and pants. One assailant was slender, no description is available for the second male. They both fled the scene in a dark red minivan and headed towards Sackville.

The Northeast Nova Major Crimes unit, RCMP Police Dog Services and Forensic Identification Services are assisting with this investigation. The RCMP wish to advise that a portion of Highway 1 near Etter Road will be closed for some time so that RCMP can continue with the investigation. Traffic is being rerouted. This was not a random act.
