RCMP investigate theft from motor vehicles, Halifax Regional Municipality, N.S.

Halifax RCMP are warning Lower Sackville residents after a recent string of thefts from motor vehicles in Millwood and Beaver Bank.

Over the weekend of April 4th -6th, approximately ten vehicles were entered.

Thieves appeared to be targeting vehicles with wallets/money, medication, or electronic devices such as cell phones or chargers inside. No vehicles were damaged. Police are finding that thieves target unlocked vehicles making it a crime of opportunity.

No arrests have been made at this time however Halifax RCMP continue to investigate. Halifax RCMP urge motorists to lock doors and remove all valuables when the vehicle is left unattended. This includes any gear associated with electronics like GPS holders or cell phone chargers. If left in plain sight, these can serve as indicators that the vehicle may contain electronic equipment or other valuables. It is also important to report any suspicious activity immediately. If you are victim of a crime, please report it. This allows police to track any trends and focus enforcement as needed and may assist in apprehending those responsible.
