The RCMP is investigating a collision between a train and pedestrians resulting in the death of two teenage girls.
At approximately 1:40 a.m., East Hants District RCMP responded to the scene of a collision between a train travelling southbound en route to Halifax and two individuals on the track. The collision occurred near the intersection of Highway 2 and Mader St. in Lantz, Nova Scotia.
A 17-year-old from Lantz and a 18–year-old international exchange student from Germany, who is residing in Lantz, were pronounced dead at the scene. RCMP and CN Rail investigators will be at the scene throughout the day conducting an investigation into the cause of this tragic incident.
