RCMP investigates fatal collision near Canso Causeway

Auld’s Cove, Nova Scotia

At 2:49 p.m. on April 1, a collision occurred between a truck and a cyclist. It occurred just before the Causeway entrance from the Auld’s Cove side. The cyclist, a 57-year-old man from Port Hawkesbury, died at the scene. No one else was hurt.

An RCMP Collision Analyst was called to the scene. Highway 104 was closed between Auld’s Cove and the roundabout in Port Hastings on Cape Breton Island for approximately six hours as police gathered evidence in order to determine the cause of the collision.

Our thoughts are with the victim’s family at this difficult time.
