RCMP investigates fatal vehicle-bicycle collision

Victoria County RCMP is investigating a fatal vehicle-bicycle collision involving a child that happened last night on Black Rock Rd. in Big Bras D’or.

At approximately 9:45 p.m., the RCMP received a report of the collision and responded along with EHS. A preliminary investigation indicates that a 10-year-old female from North Sydney riding a bicycle was struck by an SUV and the vehicle fled.

The child was pronounced deceased at the scene. The vehicle involved was located by police at a home in Victoria County and the investigation into the matter is ongoing.

A collision analyst was called to the scene and the road was closed until mid-morning.
