RCMP investigates motorcycle vs deer collision, Onslow Mountain, N.S.

Colchester County RCMP is investigating a collision that sent a 19-year-old man to hospital with very serious injuries.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. last night, RCMP, EHS and the Onslow Belmont Fire Brigade responded to a collision involving a motorcycle and a deer on the Onslow Mountain Rd.

Preliminary investigation determined that the rider was traveling eastbound on the Onslow Mountain Rd. from Belmont when he hit the deer. The man was found in the middle of the roadway, with the deceased deer in the westbound lane. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.

The Belmont man was transported to hospital by EHS and then airlifted to the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax. He remains in hospital in critical condition. A traffic reconstructionist attended the scene and is assisting with the investigation.
