Halifax District RCMP continue to investigate a man reported missing earlier today at Peggys Cove.
At approximately 12:15 p.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a 911 call that a man had been swept off the rocks and into the water at Peggys Cove.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 25-year-old man from Ontario was standing on the rocks with a female traveling companion when a large wave swept him into the ocean.
First responders and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC), immediately began extensive search and rescue efforts using a helicopter and three Coast Guard vessels.
At 6 p.m., search and rescue operations concluded. Once sea conditions improve, the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team will be deployed.
The identify of the missing man is being held pending notification of next of kin.
