RCMP investigating serious motor vehicle collision

Halifax District RCMP is investigating a serious motor vehicle collision that occurred in Salmon River Bridge.

Yesterday, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Halifax District RCMP, fire and EHS, responded to a report of a vehicle collision on Hwy. 7 in Salmon River Bridge. RCMP officers learned that a Chevrolet Silverado and a Hyundai Elantra were travelling in opposite directions when they collided.

The driver of the Elantra, a 24-year-old Porters Lake man, suffered life threatening injuries and was airlifted to hospital by LifeFlight. The passenger, a 24-year-old West Porters Lake woman, suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital by EHS. 

The driver and sole occupant of the Silverado, a 25-year-old Mushaboom man, suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital by EHS.

A collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

Hwy. 7 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
