RCMP Kept Busy at Lower Sackville Checkpoint

Release:
On July 20th 2011 at approx 9:00 p.m., members of the Halifax District
RCMP's Metro Traffic Services were conducting a checkpoint on Beaver
Bank Cross Road near Noria Crescent in Lower Sackville.
Over the course of two hours, officers checked a number of vehicles and issued seven day
driving suspensions to drivers of two vehicles who had blood alcohol
readings between 50 and 80mgs%. Police issued one ticket under the Motor
Vehicle Act and seized one vehicle. At the same checkpoint, an 18
year-old male from Lower Sackville was charged with possession of
marihuana, resisting arrest and breaching a court order. He will appear
in court at a later date.
The RCMP would like to advise the public of its increased enforcement
efforts, such as checkpoints, to help keep our roadways and communities
safe.
