RCMP launch ‘Preventor’

The RCMP Preventor was lanuched on Friday.

The RCMP have added a new seaworthy weapon to their arsenal.

On Friday, the Mounties launched their new 42-foot vessel called ‘Preventor’, which will be used for enforcement of criminal code and other provincial statutes along the Nova Scotia coastline.

The ‘Preventor’ will also be used to gather intelligence during marine patrols to reinforce border integrity. And during major international events, such as the 2009 Tall Ships, the ‘Preventor’ will provide security of coastal waters and shorelines.

The official launch took place on Friday morning at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic.
