The RCMP has charged a Dartmouth woman with numerous fraud related charges.
In June 2013, Halifax Regional Police referred a fraud matter to the RCMP Federal Policing Financial Crime section.
At that time, it was believed there was a misappropriation of funds from the Halifax Regional Police Dedication to Duty Fund, an independent employee social account.
Independent audits conducted on the Halifax Regional Police Dedication to Duty Fund and Halifax Regional Police Association account revealed that a Benefit Plan Administrator from the Halifax Regional Police Association, who co-managed the fund and account, stole in excess of $600,000 over the past 3.5 years from both.
Forty-seven year old Mary Louise MacDonald has been charged with two counts of Fraud Over $5,000, one count of Forgery and one count of Uttering Forged Document.
Ms. MacDonald is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on June 25th, 2014.
