Halifax District RCMP has laid firearm and theft charges after locating a loaded firearm in a vehicle during a traffic stop.
At approximately 2 p.m. Thursday, police responded to a complaint involving a firearm in a vehicle. They conducted a traffic stop on Silistria Dr. in Cole Harbour when they located a loaded firearm in the vehicle. The firearm was later determined to have been stolen.
The lone vehicle occupant, a 19-year-old man from North Preston, is facing weapon-related charges, including:
· Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
· Unauthorized possession of firearm in motor vehicle
· Possession of stolen property
He was held in custody and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court later today.
The investigation is continuing.
