RCMP make arrest for two break-and-enters

On July 9 shortly before 9 a.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a call of a suspicious person on Brook St. in Fletcher’s Lake. The caller reported a man came to her door and said he needed to use the washroom and he had been out jogging. The caller did not believe him and refused to allow him into her home. The man left and then returned a short time later, trying to gain entry to her home. She called police.

An RCMP officer responded, and asked a witness in the area if he had seen anyone matching the suspect’s description. The witness advised he had seen the suspect in the driveway of another home a short time earlier. The RCMP officer went to the home where the suspect had been seen and spotted him inside. He yelled to the man that he was under arrest, and the man attempted to flee. He was intercepted by the RCMP officer and secured in the back of the police vehicle. He was found to be in possession of property from two other homes on the same street.

Eighteen-year-old Declan Robichaud from Cow Bay is facing several charges in relation to these incidents:

  • Break, Enter and Commit (2 counts)
  • Break and Enter with Intent (2 counts)
  • Theft Under $5000 (2 counts)
  • Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000 (4 counts)

Robichaud appeared in Dartmouth Provincial Court on July 10.
