Nova Scotia RCMP member Cst. Curt Wentzell will receive the 2015 Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire (IODE) RCMP Police Community Service Award in a ceremony in St.

John’s, NL this afternoon.

As a national women’s charitable organization, the IODE gives out this prestigious award to a member, unit or detachment of the RCMP in recognition of exemplary public service to the community, outside of his or her regular duties.

‘This extraordinary dedication to numerous volunteer activities, combined with over 40 years of exemplary police service, is precisely why Cst. Wentzell is so deserving of the IODE RCMP Police Community Service Award’ said A/Comm. Tracy Hardy, Commanding Officer of Newfoundland RCMP.

Cst. Wentzell has been actively involved with numerous volunteer programs throughout the last two decades including the Sackville Heights Community Centre, Scouts Canada, Sackville Rivers Association, Second Lake Regional Park Association, Relay for Life, the Sackville Lions Club, and the Cobequid Radio Society.

A 40-year veteran of the RCMP, Cst. Wentzell is presently posted in Halifax District.
