August 18, 2013, Barss Corner, Nova Scotia . . . RCMP are currently on the scene of a fatal ultra-light plane crash in Barss Corner near New Germany.
Shortly after 10:15 a.m. this morning, Lunenburg County RCMP, Emergency Health Services(EHS) and the New Germany Fire Dept received a call that an ultra-light plane had crashed near Old Barss Corner Road in Lunenburg County. Preliminary investigation revealed that the plane burst into flames after impact. The pilot and lone occupant of the plane, a 65-year-old male from Barss Corner, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is in its early stages and few details are known at this time regarding the circumstances that led to the crash. Transportation Safety Board have been advised and will not be attending the scene.
