RCMP probe late-night shooting that left one man wounded

RCMP release:

Nova Scotia RCMP is investigating a shooting in Millbrook that left one person injured.

On August 27 at approximately 11:25 p.m., Millbrook RCMP received a report of shots fired inside a residence on Birch Bark Rd. Officers from Millbrook RCMP detachment, Colchester County District RCMP, Pictou County District RCMP, and the Nova Scotia RCMP Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Services attended.

The initial investigation indicates that two people attended a residence and assaulted a third man inside, during which time a shot was fired striking the third man. The two suspects then fled the home.

The victim was transported to hospital by family before police were called. Their injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening. Extensive patrols and canvassing in the area did not lead to witnesses or additional reports of injuries or damage.

Investigators believe this was a targeted incident and that there is no risk to the public. The investigation is ongoing with support from Northeast Nova Major Crime Unit.
