RCMP recover $20,000 of stolen tools

Cumberland County District RCMP has charged three people after a break-in and theft of approximately $20,000 tools from a construction site on Princess St. in Springhill.

On January 22, Cumberland County District RCMP responded to a report of a break-in and theft of a large quantity of tools at a construction site. RCMP officers discovered a lock was broken, along with plywood removed from the window. Upon further investigation, officers learned that multiple hand tools were stolen, as well as, battery chargers, a table saw and a compressor.

On January 24, thanks to a tip from the public, stolen tools were identified online on Facebook Marketplace and officers were able to conduct a search warrant at a residence on McDougall St. in Springhill. Officers safely arrested a man and a woman and seized a large quantity of stolen tools. The third person was not at the residence at the time of the search warrant.

Steven Donaldson, 30, from Springhill, Amy Rogers, 37, from Springhill, have been charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Exceeding Five Thousand Dollars
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Tampering with Serial Number

Michael Ryan, 32, from Springhill, has been charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Exceeding Five Thousand Dollars
  • Possession of property obtained by crime — trafficking
