RCMP rescue baby seal from Highway 19 in Newtown, Newtown, N.S.

Inverness District RCMP officers rescued a baby seal from a residence on Highway 19 and returned it to the Strait of Canso.

On Saturday February 14th at 10 a.m.

, RCMP responded to a report of a seal waddling near Highway 19 in Newtown. RCMP made a patrol to the area, located the seal and placed it in back of the RCMP truck using a seal net. The seal was then transported to the Port Hawkesbury wharf where it was ‘released from custody’ into the Strait of Canso.

The baby seal showed his appreciation for the Mounties’ efforts by posing for a photo while in the back of the truck. When a baby seal gets separated from his loved ones on Valentine’s Day, RCMP showed their true love and compassion for all creatures.
