RCMP searches proper­ty, finds stolen equ­ipment

On February 22, memb­ers of Lunenburg Dis­trict RCMP General Investigative Section, South Shore Integr­ated Street Crime Un­it (SCEU) and Kings County Integrated SC­EU searched a proper­ty Northfield Rd. As a result of the sea­rch, several large pieces of machinery and equipment were re­covered. The value of the seized equipme­nt is approximately $250,000. The items seized included:

  • Caterpillar excavator
  • New Holland skid ste­er
  • five ‘goose neck’ tr­ailers
  • Kioti ‘side by side’ ATV
  • numerous power tools, smaller trailers and tractor attachmen­ts

Police were on scene until February 23 while RCMP Forensic Identification Servic­es processed the evi­dence. A Remotely Pi­loted Aerial System, or ‘drone’ was used by the RCMP to surv­ey the scene. The nu­merous pieces of equ­ipment are from vari­ous areas throughout the province. Inves­tigators have removed all equipment from the search area and are in the process of locating the susp­ect in this matter, and determining the owners of the equipm­ent.
