Pictou District RCMP seize drugs and contraband tobacco during a traffic stop. At approximately 3:00 p.m. on January 24th, 2015, Pictou District RCMP officers were conducting radar enforcement on the eastbound lanes of Highway 104, in Salts Springs.

At approximately 3:00 p.m. on January 24th, 2015, Pictou District RCMP officers were conducting radar enforcement on the eastbound lanes of Highway 104, in Salts Springs.

A half-ton truck bearing Ontario license plates was stopped for speeding and RCMP seized approximately 3,890 contraband cigarettes along with 1.2 kilograms of cannabis marijuana from the truck.

The driver, a 54-year-old male from New Hamburg, Ontario was arrested for possession of contraband tobacco and possession of a controlled substance .

The driver is scheduled to appear in Pictou Provincial Court on April 20th, 2015.

The investigation is continuing.
