RCMP seize drugs and weapons in Point Tupper, Point Tupper, N.S.

Inverness District RCMP officers conducted a traffic stop resulting in the seizure of drugs and weapons earlier this week.

On January 13th at approximately 9:00 p.m., Inverness District RCMP officers stopped a vehicle with three occupants on Henry Point Road.

Preliminary investigation determined the driver was prohibited from driving. The vehicle was subsequently searched and knives, bearspray, drug paraphernalia and quantities of methadone,cocaine, marijuana were found and seized.

The driver, 33-year-old Noel Fredrick Nicholas of Waycobah was arrested and charged with Driving While Prohibited, Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon. He was released and is scheduled to appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court at a later date.

Nineteen year-old passenger, Shane Stephen Harnish from Port Hawkesbury was charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, 12 counts of Breaching Court and Probation orders and Obstruction for providing a false name to police. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear on January 19th at the Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court for a bail hearing.

The third passenger, an 18-year-old female from Halifax was arrested and later released.
