RCMP to launch ‘Preventor’

RCMP logoThe RCMP are about to add a new seaworthy weapon to their arsenal.

On Friday, the Mounties will launch their new 42-foot vessel called ‘Preventor’, which will be used for enforcement of criminal code and other provincial statutes along the Nova Scotia coastline.

The ‘Preventor’ will also be used to gather intelligence during marine patrols to reinforce border integrity. And during major international events, such as the 2009 Tall Ships, the ‘Preventor’ will provide security of coastal waters and shorelines.

The official launch of the vessel will take place on Friday, July 10 at 10 a.m. at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic.
