Recreation programs may be delayed/cancelled this morning due to inclement weather

Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that some municipally-operated recreation facilities, including arenas and the Emera Oval, may delay opening until at least 11 a.m. due to inclement weather across the region.

Crews are currently at work clearing streets and sidewalks, and equipment is also working to clear parking lots at recreation facilities. Due to challenging winter conditions throughout the region, and blowing snow, several facilities will delay opening or cancel programs to allow additional clearing work to take place.

An assessment of conditions will be undertaken later this morning, and a further communication on the status of recreation facilities and programming will be issued by 11 a.m.

Residents are encouraged to call ahead to their individual facility to confirm the status of their facility with respect to program delays or cancellations. A list of municipally-operated recreation facilities is available at www.halifax.ca/rec/reccentres.php

The municipality regrets any inconvenience this may cause. Please visit www.halifax.ca/snow for the most up-to-date snow clearing service updates, and the status of municipal services.
