Canadian surfer Pete Devries has advanced to Round 5 in the O’Neill Cold Water Classic in Tofino, British Columbia.

The 26-year-old Tofino-area surfer captured first place in his four-man heat in Round 3 on Thursday, notching the third-best score among 48 surfers. He followed that up by taking second place in his three-man heat in Round 4.

Devries, the only Canadian surfer still in the contest, is now among the final 16 international surfers in the 6-Star WQS event. He will now go head-to-head with another surfer in Round 5 (his opponent had not been determined at the time of this post).

If he wins, Devries will advance into the quarterfinals with seven other surfers.
