Regional Council Decides on New Dartmouth Bridge Terminal Design

Release:
(Tuesday, February 8, 2011) – Regional Council today supported Option 1
as the design for the new Dartmouth Bridge Terminal. Option 1 represents
the previously tendered design that was submitted to HRM in September
2010, which includes a pedestrian link to the roof.

“The design incorporates many accessibility and sustainability
features that were requested by the community through the extensive
public consultation process undertaken as part of this project,” said
Mayor Peter Kelly.

The new Dartmouth Bridge Terminal will represent a significant
improvement over the existing terminal for both transit passengers and
operators, and will be among the highest quality transit facilities in
HRM and in Canada. The Bridge Terminal is one of Metro Transit’s
largest terminals and currently serves over 18,000 passengers each day.
Staff will return to Regional Council with funding options as part of
the 2011/12 Corporate Planning budget.
