In the wake of the recent incidents in Quebec and Ottawa, Halifax Regional Police (HRP) is monitoring the situation with a particular focus on how it may impact us here locally.

At this time, there’s no information to suggest any local threat. Regardless, HRP is liaising with other authorities, monitoring intelligence and ensuring we’re fully prepared to ramp up and deploy resources if needed. We’re also increasing police patrols and visibility in certain areas of our community.

We ask that our citizens go about their regular business but not hesitate to report any suspicious activity to police immediately by calling 902-490-5020. Rest assured that if we become aware of any immediate threat to our community, we’ll take necessary action and communicate information to you.

At this time, let’s all express our sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the Canadian Armed Forces members who have been killed, and also hope for a full recovery for those injured in these incidents.
