Friday, Dec.

13, 2013 – HRM is reminding residents and business owners that with the potential storm forecasted for the weekend, to remember that the overnight winter parking ban takes effect this Sunday, Dec. 15, and will run through to March 31, 2014.

HRM’s Traffic Authority will enforce the ban between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m., during declared snow and ice events only. Residents are encouraged to plan ahead and secure off-street parking in case the overnight parking ban is enforced this Sunday due to weather.

Residents can sign up for winter parking ban notifications through CityWatch by filling out the online registration form at www.halifax.ca/snow/parkingban. In addition to CityWatch notifications, HRM will issue public service announcements when the ban is in effect and when it will be lifted. Updates will be posted online at www.halifax.ca/snow and via HRM’s Twitter account, @hfxgov. Residents can also call #311 at any time for up-to-date information.

Weather conditions and snow clearing operations will determine how long an overnight parking ban will be enforced, as it may extend for more than one night.
