Removing Barriers to Homeownership Focus of Conference

Government, industry and advocates for affordable housing are meeting today, Nov. 25, in Dartmouth to find ways to help more people buy houses.

The Affordable Homeownership Conference: An Industry Perspective is hosted by Housing Nova Scotia, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, and Habitat for Humanity.

“It’s great to see government, private business and housing groups working together to address the barriers to homeownership,” said Minister responsible for Housing Nova Scotia Joanne Bernard. “By sharing best practices and ideas we can help more Nova Scotians buy their first home.”

Local and national experts will discuss issues affecting homeownership such as down payments, mortgage regulations and the need for smaller, energy-efficient homes.
